Law Library Access - CAUL Questionnaire (QJCU 8.2.96)


1. Is the Law Library separate from the main library?

3(b) If yes, please briefly describe the content of the collection and indicate by whom it is maintained

In most cases Departmental/Faculty collections consist of duplicate reports, journals and legislation. Basic reference tools and looseleaf services are included in some collections. At VU,QUT and SU maintenance is by Library staff.WU is in the process of handing maintenance over to the Faculty. At QJCU,QU,ANU,NUN,NNCU,and NTU the collection is maintained by the Faculty or by a librarian/library technician employed by the Faculty. At TU and NU the collection is not maintained.( The collection at NU attached to the Australian Centre for Environmental Law is maintained by a part time librarian employed by the Centre)

4 Does the Law Library (or Library in the case of integrated collections) grant special access conditions to Law staff, e.g. when the Library is closed?

In answering Q6 many libraries indicated a willingness to bendthe rules for a good cause.
