Prague Declaration: Towards an Information Literate Society
This declaration is the outcome of a meeting held in Prague in September 2003, organised by the US National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS) and the National forum on Information Literacy (NFIL), with the support of UNESCO.  40 people from 23 different countries participated.  The declaration  consists of 6 points of principle, and three policy recommendations aimed at government and civil and non-profit organisations.  One of the streams at the meeting was on Education and Learning where issues such as information seeking behaviours, learning that influences inforamtion literacy education, conditions that are conducive for learners and teachers as they develop information literacy, and digital information literacy.  The declaration received endorsement by CAUL Members at the meeting held March 2004.
